To the joy and pride of physicists at UESC, the 1st place in the exact sciences category was awarded to the work presented in Quantum Information by undergraduate student João Victor Sales.
The title of the work is "Autonomous Maxwell's Demon in a Microwave Optical Cavity" and was supervised by Prof. José Geraldo Oliveira from PROFÍSICA and MNPEF at UESC.
So, is it worth undertaking a scientific initiation? This was the question circulating in the minds of young aspirants to an academic and scientific career recently, during the events at the 29th Seminar on Scientific Initiation at UESC, in Ilhéus, BA.
It was another lively week at UESC with plenty of scientific exchange and dissemination. The central theme of the seminar was "Science, Democracy, and Social Transformation," which took place alongside the 10th Symposium on Teaching, Extension, Innovation, and Research. Activities were held in person from November 7th to 10th, 2023.
Students, professors, and researchers from the Physics Department of Exact Sciences (DCEX) at UESC were present with 14 undergraduate students presenting works in Astrophysics, Nuclear Physics, and Quantum Information, some in oral presentations and others as posters.
The assessment committee's feedback was very positive, and the atmosphere of the activity was friendly and relaxed, fostering better exchange between students and their advisors. This has generated high expectations that these projects will extend into the Physics master's program at UESC.
